Emily & Matt | Old Mesilla Engagement Session

Remember a few weeks ago when I collaborated with Flowers By Ashlee to bring another Bloom Box Drop to Las Cruces? Emily came in ahead of the pack when the drop was announced, and got there in six or seven minutes flat! She won herself a load of over $1000 in gift certificates and freebies from local vendors to help her plan her upcoming wedding…including my contribution–a free engagement session! *Insert fist pump here!*

Emily loved the idea of taking pictures in Old Mesilla, New Mexico. The brightly painted doors on so many of the buildings was a big draw to her, especially since one turquoise is one of their wedding colors! We lucked out–even with the crowds on a holiday weekend (Dia de Muertos), we found our own little corners of the Plaza to shoot at, and the weather could not have been nicer! The cold front that moved through a couple weeks ago brought on an early fall for the Southwest, and we took advantage of the first of the golden color–along with that beautiful late October golden light–to create some really beautiful portraits for these two!

Emily and Matt have been together, in their words, ‘Forever’….and to give you an idea of what that means, MySpace was part of this conversation, so…yep, maybe that’s not far off! When I asked Matt what first drew him to Emily, his instant response was ‘Her eyes!’ Emily does have such striking eyes, and she has a fun and bubbly personality and a winning smile to go with them. She’s fun and laid back, and turns strangers into friends–a true talent.

Emily and Matt, I’m so glad we got to hang out! It was such a pleasure to get to know you both. Thanks so much for allowing me to be part of your story, and I hope our paths cross again in the future!

Hugs,

Erin
