Hillary and Grant’s White Sands Anniversary Session | Photographer in Las Cruces New Mexico

Hillary and Grant are wedding photographers from Missouri! They drove all the way to Las Cruces, New Mexico for their second wedding anniversary, so they could spend it in the surreal beauty that is the White Sands National Monument. Hillary searched in photography groups she’s part of for a photographer in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They wanted to memorialize their trip and second year of marriage! That’s when she stumbled upon me. 🙂 We have taken many of the same educational courses and have developed similar shooting and editing styles! That’s exactly what she was looking for.

Hillary and Grant have a really special story!  In their questionnaire, Hillary mentioned that they met in 2008. Even though Grant knew right away that Hillary was the girl he wanted to marry someday, they didn’t actually start dating until seven or eight years later. Through all of life’s ups and downs, they were just constants in each others’ lives. Then one day, they finally left the ‘friendzone’ behind once and for all.

My own dating story doesn’t span the length of time that Hillary and Grant’s does! But as a girl who ‘friendzoned’ her future husband for quite a while, I totally related to them! Rustin and I spent every day together for a solid seven months before I was ready to think of him as more than ‘just a friend.’ It probably drove him crazy but from our perspective now, we think there is something really special about relationships that are born out of friendship first. You get to know the real ‘them’ almost as well as you know yourself. You see each other through thick and thin, and you finally realize your home is a person, not a place.

There’s something really special about a guy who sticks around long enough for that to happen. When I finally realized what a good match Rustin was and decided to give ‘us’ a chance, we realized quickly that “We are what we are because of patience and timing.” I’m not sure it could have happened for us any other way.

For all those reasons and more, I was really excited to meet Hillary and Grant in person. They are a fun and adventurous couple! It was completely obvious from the way they smile, laugh, touch and hover in each others’ orbits that they’re absolutely crazy about each other.

Hillary and Grant, I’m glad you decided to drive so far to experience White Sands and play on the other side of the camera! And I just have to say, you have the ‘twirl’ DOWN. You need a trophy or something ;).

Hugs,

Erin 🙂

I love these Erin!!! What a beautiful place to shoot. It draws all your attention to the couple. Absolutely stunning!

    • Erin Richins says:

Mandy, thanks so much! Yes, that’s exactly what White Sands does! It’s such a beautiful backdrop, but in a very subtle way, so it doesn’t upstage the subjects. 🙂 It’s definitely become a favorite location to shoot at!
