This White Sands National Monument Sweetheart Session was a total dream! I think I’ll never get tired of photographing couples (and families!) at White Sands. I feel so blessed to live within an easy travel distance of this amazing place! Seriously, we photographers in the Las Cruces, New Mexico area are so lucky to have this epic location in our backyard.
Taylor reached out to me a few weeks ago with an idea cooking. She wanted to do a couple’s session at White Sands while her husband Marco was back in town. That doesn’t happen very often for them! Taylor lives in Alamogordo and flies Reapers for the Air Force, while Marco lives in Texas and works as an electrical engineer. They’re living the military family life, facing the challenges of physical separation until they’ll finally be able to live under the same roof in December. “Part of the reason I want photos,” she said, “is to document all the places we’ve been able to live and see, and to celebrate the time that we do actually get to spend together in those places.”
Taylor told me their story started in 2014, with a Facebook message. “I messaged Marco on Facebook because I thought he was cute!” They lived in neighboring towns and were home for the summer. But soon after they started dating, they both started back to different colleges, and started a long-distance relationship. They dated all through college. “[Marco] really pushed me to grow and I think I did the same for him. We compliment each other very well.” They were married in early 2018 and then moved ‘out west’ shortly after.
Taylor and Marco are a playful and connected couple! Just the way I like ’em haha. I LOVE shooting couples who are comfortable–or at least WILLING– to show their love and connection on camera! Because the bottom line is, these pictures aren’t for me–they’re for my clients to enjoy. So why not be yourselves as you are in real life?
Taylor and Marco, I’m so glad we got to hang out for the evening! These pictures are some of my favorites! (I know I always say that…but it’s always true!). Thanks so much for putting your trust in me, and allowing me the space to make something awesome for you! I hope these will be special memories for a long time to come.❤️
Hugs,
Erin 🙂
