This girl is ELEVEN! That means it’s time for another (and really the final!) birthday post of 2019. (It’s also time for a self-congratulatory pat on the back, because FRIENDS–I did it! I took pictures of each of my kids for their birthday’s this year…and as a photographer who often struggles to get pictures of her own kids regularly, I feel like checking that goal off my 2019 list is a huuuuuge accomplishment).
Our plans were cut a little short by rain, mud and even SNOW (on August 31st! Insane!). In addition, Sydney wasn’t feeling so hot. You ever notice how school starts and every kid in town immediately gets sick? Sydney’s sort of a germ-a-phobe, but even she ended up catching an awful cold in the first couple weeks back to school, and that’s how she spent her Labor Day Weekend–sniffling, coughing and pretty sedate.
Despite feeling under the weather–and despite the ACTUAL weather–we still managed to take 20 0r so minutes out of our trip to wander around this beautiful spot for some pictures.
Sydney’s in 5th grade this year. She is sunshine mixed with a little hurricane. She’s got the biggest and most ready smile…but don’t let that fool you, she can get pretty stormy, too, 😆. But ohhhh is this kid funny! As a person who appreciates a good sense of humor in others, but doesn’t really possess one for herself, I can say that this little firecracker brings so much light and laughter into our home! I’m grateful for her comedic timing and comic relief. 🙂
Sydney’s got a huge heart and so much empathy. It’s hard for her to see suffering in the world. Some of my favorite memories of her as a little girl revolve around her seeing someone sad or in need, and moving heaven and earth to help them. She’s always ready with a hug when she notices someone getting emotional or having a hard time coping with whatever life is trowing at them that day.
